Bridget Phillipson, with the help of local volunteers, organised a Big Brew Up coffee morning raising nearly £400 for SSAFA Forces Help in the north east.Speakers at the event were Marion Mullen, Regional Secretary of SSAFA and Brian Carr who spoke about the Brothers in Arms campaign in Sunderland.

“SSAFA do wonderful work to support our service personnel, veterans and their families. I know that many local people from Houghton and Sunderland South are currently serving abroad and it is vital that we recognise the sacrifice they make on our behalf.”
