On 11th July, Bridget Phillipson, Member of Parliament for Houghton and Sunderland South, held the fourth in her Coffee Morning series on Anti-Social Behaviour and local policing. The event saw over 40 local residents attend to discuss crime, policing and anti-social behaviour in and around the Houghton area.

Also present were Inspector Lisa Musgrove and Sergeant Andy Taylor who were able to speak directly to residents about local issues and what the police can do to help.

Speaking after the event, Bridget said:

“I am delighted that so many people from the local community have come out to express their views on the very important issues of policing and anti-social behaviour.

“Today, we had over forty local people coming together at a lively event to share their experiences. It is hugely important that residents and the police work together to make sure that the response to anti-social behaviour is as effective as possible.

“I will continue to hold my coffee mornings across the constituency to make sure that every one of my constituents has an opportunity to make their voice heard on this issue and can also ask about any aspect of my work in Parliament and the local area.”

The next coffee morning in the series will be in September, when Bridget and a member of the local community policing team will again hear residents’ views.
