ICT Mill Hill PrimaryBridget Phillipson, MP for Houghton and Sunderland South, attended an opening ceremony at Mill Hill Primary School in Doxford Park to open the school’s new ICT facilities.

The school has purchased 17 new computers in order tomeet curriculum requirements for a new course in ICT to be taught at the school.

Speaking at the school, Bridget said:

“I was delighted to be invited to open Mill Hill Primary School’s new computer suite.

“ICT is part of our everyday lives and it is important that today’s children are taught from an early age how to use it confidently.

“Up-to-date computers are essential if children are to be given a high-quality computing education and I am very impressed with the excellent resources that Mill Hill Primary School has invested in so that their pupils can become confident and creative users of information and communication technology.”

Dean Marshall, Head Teacher at the school, said:

“At Mill Hill Primary, we believe that a high quality education will provide pupils with opportunities to think about and understand the changing world.

“Computing has deep links with many other aspects of the New National Curriculum and we are looking to ensure that our children become digitally literate – able to use and express themselves and develop their ideas through ICT.

“We feel that the new computer suite will enhance our provision and allow us to continue to provide pupils with the best possible start.”
