Bridget-Phillipson-PCC-ASB-Vera-Baird-PolicingHoughton and Sunderland South MP, Bridget Phillipson, is continuing to seek the views and opinions of local people on crime and anti-social behaviour.

The previous Labour government introduced Community Policing, Anti-Social Behaviour Orders (ASBOs) and greater funding for frontline policing to cut crime and tackle problems in Northumbria. Visible proactive policing is crucial to keeping residents safe. However, since 2010 Northumbria Police force has faced disproportionate cuts of over £100 million from central government.

Bridget has held coffee mornings across the constituency to listen to the experiences of local people. Events held in Silksworth and Shiney Row helped to bring together local people, community policing teams and Northumbria Police and Crime Commissioner Vera Baird to discuss this issues.

The next event will be held in St Chad’s Ward on 21 February 2014. Bridget and a member of the local community policing team will once again be there to hear residents’ views. If you would like to attend the next event on 21st February please email Bridget through the ‘Contact Bridget’ page of this website or ring the constituency office on 0191 385 7994.
