Bridget Phillipson Labour Member of Parliament for Houghton and Sunderland South
Local MP, Bridget Phillipson, has asked local GPs for their views on the Tory-led government’s planned top-down reorganisation of the NHS.
Under the Government’s current proposals Primary Care Trusts – the organisation that currently plans local services and decides how the money is spent -; will be scrapped. They will be replaced by groups of GP Consortia who have the power to buy in services for their patients.
It’s expected a summary of the survey results will be published by the end of August.NHS staff can take part in the survey by emailingBridget.Phillipson.MP@parliament.uk.
Commenting on the release of her new survey, Bridget said:
“My survey is an opportunity for GPs and any other medical professionals in the NHS to make their views known about this Governments top down reforms.
“It’s clear from the letters I receive; local people are worried about the government’s proposed changes to the NHS. It’s about time the government took people’s concerns about these planned changes seriously and permanently ‘paused’ its plans
