On Friday 14th September, I held my seventeenth community event at Philadelphia cricket club. I was pleased that so many constituents came along to discuss local issues around policing and anti-social behaviour, as well as wider areas such as funding for local services and Brexit.

We were joined by Sgt Simon Marshall and PC Simon Hayes, who were able to take questions and contribute to discussion on the work the police are doing locally.

Recent figures showed that Northumbria Police have taken the largest funding cut of any force in the country. But I know that local officers are doing all they can to keep us safe. Sgt Marshall stressed how important it is that residents report concerns to the police – particularly around off road bikes. This can also be done anonymously.

I’ll be holding my next event in November in Doxford. If you don’t receive updates and you’d like to be added to my mailing list, then please drop me an email at bridget.phillipson.mp@parliament.uk
