Bridget Phillipson Labour Member of Parliament for Houghton and Sunderland South
I was delighted to welcome Treasa Crumley from New Silksworth Academy to Parliament yesterday to train as a UK Parliament Teacher Ambassador.
Following the three-day training event in Parliament, teachers will be able to go back to their schools and develop students’ and colleagues’ understanding of Parliament and democracy, and will benefit from continuing partnership with Parliament’s Education and Engagement Service.
I’m proud that New Silksworth Academy are playing their part in developing the leaders of tomorrow, and I’d like to thank the UK Parliament Teacher Ambassador Programme for providing this opportunity.
The programme runs every January and July, and applications for 1-3 July will open from 5 February. Anyone interested can contact engage@parliament.uk for more information
