On Monday 04 February I pressed the Business Secretary on Nissan’s announcement that it will build the X-Trail SUV in Japan rather than in Sunderland.

Nissan’s announcement shows that Brexit uncertainty is already having a major effect on industry and investment in our country.

The government’s Brexit deal will not end this uncertainty, but see it drag on for years to come – damaging jobs and livelihoods in the process.

It is not too late for Theresa May to change course and put her deal to the public, giving them a say on whether this is really the best way forward.
