Wessington Cryogenics is a world-leading vessel manufacturing business based in our constituency, employing over 80 people locally. This morning I visited the business and met with Paul Rowe, the managing director, who recently got in touch to express his worries about the impact Brexit uncertainty is having on the business.

Products manufactured by Wessington Cryogenics are exported around the world. Paul spoke of his concerns that leaving the EU would mean the business suffering rises in the cost of supplies, and a loss of its simple access to international trade:

“It’s clear that no possible Brexit scenario will make up for the chaos Brexit will cause to businesses. Small companies like mine cannot afford to stockpile, and I’m concerned about inevitable cost rises on the supplies we order from European suppliers. The equipment manufactured at Wessington Cryogenics is built in accordance with European Standards, which allows us to sell and export throughout the world. I’m worried that if we leave the EU, businesses like mine will lose simple access not only to Europe, but to countries around the world.”
