I am disappointed by Barclays’ announcement this week that customers will no longer be able to withdraw cash at the Post Office from January 2020 – a service which provides a lifeline for vulnerable and elderly residents when high street banks and free-to-use ATMs stand increasingly at risk. Communities of all sizes prosper with the Post Office’s help, but with less footfall, this decision could negatively affect their ability to stay viable. Barclays must think again.
