Tonight I spoke in Parliament on the government’s Finance Bill, arising from last month’s Budget.
While much has changed since the Budget was drawn up, I’m concerned that it simply maintains the status quo rather than delivering the change we need.
While we will seek to work constructively with ministers, it doesn’t solve all the economic problems caused by the COVID-19 outbreak, or tackle the inequalities created by ten years of Conservative government.
We need a more ambitious approach to making our tax system fairer, and building a society and economy fit for the future.
