Bridget Phillipson Labour Member of Parliament for Houghton and Sunderland South
This morning I met with local trustees and others involved in plans to celebrate the bicentenary of Hetton Colliery Railway being established.
The railway is a wonderful example of our rich local heritage, and it was great to hear about the exciting plans in place to mark the anniversary of the railway in 2022.
We also discussed plans to engage with local schools, to inspire our children and young people to learn more about our area’s proud history and achievements.
I’ll be working to support plans to celebrate this important anniversary, and if you would like to find out more about how it will be marked, or how to get involved, please visit this website:
