Bridget Phillipson Labour Member of Parliament for Houghton and Sunderland South
Today I met with Graham Stephenson, CEO of Aim High Academy Trust, to discuss what matters most to local schools as we recover from the pandemic.
Labour has set out our ambition for the biggest school improvement programme in a generation. We would drive up standards and enable every child to succeed and thrive.
But under the Conservatives, schools face real challenges right now.
Rather than letting schools concentrate on giving children the best possible start in life, the Government has been leaving them in the dark for weeks as to how the latest National Insurance rise will hit them. And there has been no serious plan about how we can support our children to catch up after the pandemic.
It was good to chat with Graham and learn what I can do to use my voice in Parliament to support local children, families and schools.
