Loading more taxes on to working people and those who deserve to retire in peace is completely the wrong approach to pay for social care.
One in four working pensioners hit by the new tax are in the bottom fifth of the country’s earners. Too many are not doing it by choice – they are forced to work past retirement age because it’s the only way to make ends meet.
Labour would tax fairly, spend wisely, and get our economy firing on all cylinders, to ensure Britain’s pensioners can have the retirement they deserve.
