I was lucky to get an amazing state education — every child deserves one.

Despite the hard work of teachers and school staff, that simply isn’t the case for too many children — and that needs to change.

After the biggest disruption to learning in a generation, our children also need an ambitious, forward-looking and positive plan for recovery.

As Shadow Education Secretary, that will be my priority.
