Last week, it was a pleasure to visit Sunderland University’s School of Medicine alongside Labour’s Shadow Health Secretary Wes Streeting and Julie Elliott MP.

I was proud to support the bid to open the School of Medicine back in 2019 – creating opportunities for young people in our community. We spoke with a class of medical students – many were from the region and intend to work locally once they have qualified. I’m incredibly proud of the work of the University in training the next generation of doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and paramedics in their world-leading facilities.
