I’m very proud of the brilliant results in the local elections here in Sunderland and right across the country. A big thank you to everyone who worked so hard during the campaign.

We’ve made gains in Hartlepool and Workington, in Barnet and in Worthing, and we even won control of Westminster council — for the first time ever.

These local elections show that we are a renewed, confident Labour Party that has changed itself and is ready to change Britain for better.
