Bridget Phillipson Labour Member of Parliament for Houghton and Sunderland South
It was a pleasure to meet with Chief Constable Winton Keenen of Northumbria Police to discuss crime and anti-social behaviour in our area.
Despite the hard work of local officers, anti-social behaviour remains a prevalent issue in our community. Over the last 12 years, we have seen police disappear from our streets and our criminal justice system is in chaos.
Everyone deserves to feel safe and secure in their community and I will be campaigning to make our streets safer, by restoring neighbourhood policing with police hubs and local prevention teams to tackle crime at its source.
As your MP, I will continue to take a zero-tolerance approach to crime and anti-social behaviour, holding events across our constituency to ensure every local resident has a voice and working with Northumbria Police to ensure our community is safe.
Thank you to Chief Constable Keenen for meeting with me and listening to constituents’ views, and thank you to our local police force for all they do.
