Bridget Phillipson Labour Member of Parliament for Houghton and Sunderland South
Today I’ve been out across our region, visiting North Shore Academy and Daisy Chain.
As a result of the hard work of teachers and pupils, North Shore Academy has seen its Ofsted ratings go from ‘inadequate’ to ‘outstanding’ within three years. It’s always brilliant to hear of a north east success story. Labour would be recruiting over 6,500 new teachers to ensure every child is getting an excellent education.
Daisy Chain provide assistance to autistic children and their families, through their helpline and support service. Last year, they helped 4,000 families with placements, holiday clubs, employability support, housing, benefits and wellbeing services.
I was delighted to see the fantastic work being done in our region, both in improving educational outcomes and supporting those with special educational needs. I’d like to thank both North Shore Academy and Daisy Chain for welcoming me today.
