It was a real pleasure to pay a visit to Busy Bees nursery in Doxford Park, where they are supporting children to learn, play and explore, preparing them for their next big milestone – starting school.
The early years have been my priority from day one. I am proud to be supporting the work of nurseries like Busy Bees by setting a target for a record number of children to be school-ready by age 5, as part of our Plan for Change.
We are giving every child the best start in life by rolling out 30 government-funded hours of childcare, delivering 3,000 new and expanded school-based nurseries, and giving the largest ever uplift to the Early Years Pupil Premium – delivering life chances for children and work choices for parents.
