I’m proud that Labour is investing in rail across the North, including development work on reopening the Leamside Line.
Since I was first elected in 2010, I’ve campaigned for our community to have better transport. It’s just not right that our area has had no rail service for decades.
Re-opening the Leamside Line will give a long-awaited boost to connectivity, jobs, and growth in our communities. Forming part of the wider Northern Powerhouse Rail project, which will deliver faster, more frequent services and unlock opportunities right across our region, it will complement ongoing work to extend the Metro.
