I met with Nexus and North East Mayoral Strategic Authority to ask for the latest on extending the Metro, which will unlock opportunity, improve connectivity and drive growth across our community.
I was really pleased to hear that progress is being made and that physical work has started already. I will keep in touch with residents throughout, including with residents in South Hylton, who will be getting a new station as part of this exciting extension.
It was also great to chat about starting feasibility work on reopening the Leamside Line. I’ve campaigned for both of these projects for years and thanks to Labour working together in regional and national government, progress is finally being made.
