Houghton and Sunderland South MP, Bridget Phillipson attended a coffee morning at St Chad’s Church Hall organised by campaigner Tony Kinnair and the Sunderland Prostate Cancer Group to promote Prostate Cancer Awareness.

Prostate cancer mainly affects men over 50 with the risk increasing with age. The average age for men to be diagnosed with prostate cancer is between 70 and 74 years. Bridget Phillipson MP said:

“1 in 8 men in the UK will get prostate cancer at some point in their lives and it is the most common cancer in men in the UK.

“I want to thank Tony and all those who were involved in organising such an important event in our community to raise awareness of the issue.”
