Sunderland Software CityHoughton and Sunderland South MP, Bridget Phillipson has nominated Sunderland Software City as a key player in UK manufacturing to the ‘Made by Britain‘ campaign.

Sunderland Software City supports and helps grow the software manufacturing sector in the North East which includes over 50 companies in the Sunderland area alone. Nationwide, the software sector is now worth over £100 billion to the UK economy – almost as much as the financial services sector.

The ‘Made By Britain‘ campaign is organised by the Associate Parliamentary Manufacturing Group (APMG), Policy Connect and the 1851 Royal Commission to showcase the best the UK has to offer as an important part of supporting manufacturing and engage the country’s top policymakers on the issues that industry face.

“In the 19th century iconic engineering triumphs such as Brunel’s SS Great Britain or Stephenson’s Rocket represented the best British engineering, science and research had to offer. In the 21st century the microprocessor and internet have become their modern equivalents.

“Sunderland Software City’s team of dedicated staff, led by David Dunn, provides a quality service helping to turn dreams into fully fledged businesses – creating jobs and supporting growth in our economy.

“Sunderland Software City is an example which should be replicated throughout the country. That is why I’m nominating them to be a part of the ‘Made by Britain‘ campaign.”

“Software creation represents manufacturing in the 21st century and it’s a true driver of economic prosperity .

“Software made in Sunderland is being used globally by a client list of internationally recognised names.
