Houghton and Sunderland South MP, Bridget Phillipson has helped open 28-revolutionary low energy bungalows built by Gentoo in Houghton-le-Spring.

These new homes, built with an investment of £200,000 from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), rely on green technology and super high standards of insulation to cut energy use by around 75 per cent. Saving each household hundreds of pounds a year.

Commenting at the opening of these new homes, Bridget said:

“We have a housing shortage across the North East so it’s fantastic news that the Homes and Communities Agency have invested £200,000 to help Gentoo build these low-energy homes.

“New energy efficient homes likes these are vital to help cut household energy costs, support jobs and growth in our region and develop local communities.”
